South End

Burlington’s South End is well known for its eclectic art and food scene. The neighborhood is bounded by Lake Champlain, Queen City Park Road, Route 7, and Main Street. Residents have countless options when it comes to amenities, breweries, and restaurants.

Recreational enthusiasts can hop on the Burlington Bike Path to get their daily exercise or commute to Downtown Burlington and points north. Oakledge Park gives residents easy access to Lake Champlain with a rocky beach, playground, and sports facilities. Petra Cliffs on Briggs Street offers indoor climbing opportunities, classes and instruction, and children’s programs. Burlington Surf Club is a great spot to learn to windsurf, stand up paddleboard, or just hang out.

City Market recently expanded to a second location on Flynn Ave., giving South End residents the same access to local, organic, and conventional products as those who live Downtown. The Burlington Farmers Market recently relocated to the South End and is a great Saturday activity for residents and tourists alike!

Like beer? The South End features three local breweries including Zero Gravity, Switchback, and Queen City Brewery!

Not into beer? Citizen Cider’s Pine Street cidery is a hotspot for locals and tourists alike.

Consider yourself a coffee connoisseur? Brio Coffeeworks, Nomad, Speeder and Earls, and Great Harvest Bakery each offer a great cup!

A self declared foodie? Great Northern, New World Tortilla, Feldman’s Bagels, Pizza 44 are a must!

Rather cook at home? City Market offers fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

The residential areas of the South End encircle the art and food district, making the South End a great place to buy a home! There are also plans to improve access to I-89 and Shelburne Road via the Champlain Parkway. This proposed project includes a two lane connector that aims to alleviate commuter and truck traffic through the South End.
